SMS Opt-In
Last updated: July 11, 2026
How patients opt in to text messages
Practices using PracticeHub collect SMS consent through one or more of the following methods, each of which records who consented, when, and how:
- In person or on intake forms: the patient provides their mobile number and agrees to receive appointment-related text messages from the practice.
- Verbally with documentation:front-desk staff confirm the patient wishes to receive text updates and record that consent in the patient's record.
- Patient-initiated texting:when a patient texts the practice's number first, the practice may respond to that conversation.
What enrollees receive
Appointment confirmations and reminders, reschedule prompts, follow-up scheduling messages, and replies to questions sent to the practice's number. Message frequency varies by your care schedule. Message and data rates may apply.
Example message: "Hi Alex, this is Aurora Eye Institute. Reply C to confirm or R to reschedule your appointment on Mar 12 at 2:40 PM. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
Opting out
Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe immediately — this is honored automatically and confirmed with one final message. Reply START to re-enroll, or HELP for assistance. Consent is never a condition of receiving care. See our SMS Terms and Privacy Policy.
